April represents renewal and new beginnings, so it’s no surprise that it is also Earth Month— the perfect time to look at some new, exciting options to help create a cleaner world.
The yearly observance focuses on global environmental action, sustainability and education. This year’s theme is “Our Power, Our Planet,” promoting clean energy, climate action and conservation.
Each year, Edison International Foundation partners with Plug in America to fund electric vehicle educational events for Drive Electric Earth Month — a monthlong celebration of EVs showcasing their advantages, including rebates.
The events are free to the public so that residents can ask questions, test drive and talk to real EV owners about the benefits of going green.
Drive Electric Earth Month Events:
- Whittier Earth Day & EV Showcase: Saturday, April 11. This showcase will feature an “Electric Avenue” display with a wide range of electric transportation options, including all-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, motorcycles and e-bikes.
- Ventura Earth Day & EV Showcase: Saturday, April 18. This event will include dozens of EV owners displaying vehicles ranging from historic electric models to the newest EVs on the market.
- Thousand Oaks Arbor Day & EV Showcase: Saturday, April 18. This family-friendly community event combines live music, children’s activities and environmental programming with an EV display area where owners share real-world experiences with attendees.
- Ventura EcoFest EV Showcase: Thursday, April 26. Ventura EcoFest is a large community sustainability festival featuring local vendors, nonprofits, food trucks and live entertainment. The EV showcase, organized for the seventh year, focuses on peer-to-peer education, allowing the public to speak directly with EV owners about costs and charging.
